Anaïs Gallagher for Tatler
Anaïs Gallagher, the 18-year-old daughter of Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and Meg Mathews, is our August cover star.
Tatler’s editor-at-large Emma Elwick-Bates sat down with the model, FROW regular and budding photographer (she’s due to start at Camberwell College of Arts in the autumn), to discuss everything from her mother’s menopause to feminism, as well as being part of the Primrose Hill set 2.0, of course.
‘I’ve learned now, you’ve got to embrace it,’ she says of being part of the group made famous by her parents – Kate Moss, Sadie Frost et al. ‘We all still live there, we’ve grown up together and are relatively close,’ she explains, noting that Rafferty Law is a friend but he’s a little older, while his sister, Iris, is younger - but there’s a ‘deep connection with these friendships because they’ve been there our whole lives’.
When talking about feminism, her father’s provocative spark flares up, as she admits: ‘Feminism wasn’t a thing in my house. I never grew up thinking that was going to be played because I was a woman. People patronise you about the experience of being a teenage girl… I never saw life like that.’
Meanwhile her softer side is reserved for her mother, Meg, whose experience of the menopause she talks candidly about, saying: ‘There’s no denying she was a nightmare,’ citing the tears, hormonal spins and sleeplessness her mother endured. ‘But I’m so proud of my mum because she is very outspoken about it.’
